A rare and important
Perpetual Calendar, Universal
Tidal and moon phase Clock.
The dial is signed - John Callwood, Liverpool.
The brass dial is outstandingly engraved with
cross-hatching and an engraved Father Time below the numeral XII.
The chapter ring having the twelve months and 365 days of
the year finely engraved and read by a sweep calendar hand. There is a
rare sweep seconds hands and tidal hands with moon phases to the arch along
with the inscription "Time Shows the Way of Life's Decay"
The particularly outstanding flame mahogany case has
carved fretwork to the trunk and moulding to the trunk top. The hood and
trunk have reeded pillars with verre églomisé panels beneath the swan
necks.
